Irreecha the Oromo national and cultural holiday has been celebrated with over 3000 million oromians in the blessing festival.
The expression signifies the end of one season and the beginning of another season, which incidentally is the beginning of a new year according to Oromo time reckoning. This is not the only expression in irreecha festival as the event is characterized by vast and varieties of expression, stories and sequences of cultural displays.
Irreecha is the biggest and very beautiful public display of ancient culture that Africa has performed and continues to perform. Holding the green grass and yellow flower (Umama), it is the celebration of the season of blessing and love oromians experience as Thanksgiving to God (waaqa) the creator (Umama). This holiday been celebrated in the Hora lake, bishoftuu city or the old name Debrezeyit.
