Ethiopia (formerly called Abyssinia) is the oldest independent and proud nation in Africa and one of the oldest Christian nations in the world.
It has an ancient civilization dating back to over 3000 years.

The Danakil Depression (Dallol)

It is located in the afar region of Ethiopia. It is 100 meters below sea level. It is one of the hottest inhabited places on earth with average daily maximum temperature of about 48Oc.

This region is famous for being the cradle of mankind as it was here that various human fossils were discovered: Ardi (Ardipithecus ramidus) and Lucy (Australopithecus afarensis).

Simien Mountains National Park

Simien Mountains National Park in northern Ethiopia is a spectacular landscape, where massive erosion over millions of years has created jagged mountain peaks, deep valleys, and sharp precipices dropping some 1,500m.

Bale Mountains National Park

The Bale Mountains National Park (BMNP) is a protected area of approximately 2,200 square kilometers and is located 400 km southeast of Addis Ababa in Oromia National Regional State. This park belongs to the Bale-Arsi massif, which forms the western section of the southeastern Ethiopian highlands.

Blue Nile Falls

The Blue Nile Falls is a waterfall on the Blue Nile river in Ethiopia. It is known as Tis Abay in Amharic, meaning “great smoke”. It is situated on the upper course of the river, about 30 km downstream from the town of Bahir Dar and Lake Tana. The falls are one of Ethiopia’s best known tourist attractions.

Sof Omar Caves

Sof Omar Cave is the longest cave in Ethiopia at 15.1 kilometres (9.4 mi) long; sources claim it is the longest system of caves in Africa. It is situated to the east of Robe, in the Bale Zone of the Oromia Region in southeastern Ethiopia, through which the Weyib River (Gestro River) flows.
